When visiting the island last summer, we found your shop stocked with something special, whimsical, or useful for everyone. The discovery of a magical pair of teal dragons’ wings made parting from her years-long savings of spending money an easy choice for my daughter. Knowing we were purchasing locally handmade products and supporting a family-owned small business made it a no-brainer for picking up some little DIY kits for holiday gifts.
My son fills up goes through sketchbooks and journals at a rate of about one a month. He had admired this folio, but wanted to shop around a bit more; upon deciding this was “it”, we stopped by on our way to the ferry, only to find the shop closed. Though disappointing at the time, it made for a perfect plan for a gift. (holidays or birthday? …decisions, decisions…)

He set to work on this project and within an hour, he proudly presented his completed project, looking as cleanly and precisely assembled as if we’d purchased it off one of your shelves. That a 13-year-old was able to duplicate such beautiful results speaks to the quality and detail of your tutorial.
We now have a burgeoning leather-smith on our hands. His YouTube history has revealed all manner of leather embossing, stamping, and carving how-to’s.
Between the orcas and your shop, he’s decided the island is the place to be. In a few more years, you might have an apprentice knocking at your door.😏
